Launched in 2013, Webflow is a visual website development tool.
We put them on the list for 5 reasons:
Industry
Webflow is a part of an industry called No Code. Really it’s movement. It was estimated in 2016 that less than a half of a percent of the world's population knows how to code. This means less than half of the world's population can build apps, websites, games etc. No Code is changing that by making building a visual process instead of a code oriented process.
Financials
In August 2019 Webflow raised a Series A investment of $72M. This is a HUGE Series A investment. Its reported that they were valued at $350M-$400M. This means Webflow is already a huge company and whoever invested in them believes there is a lot of room for growth!
In 2017 Webflow did $10M in revenue. In 2018 they did $20M in revenue. Their 2019 numbers are not public but I would bet they’re at least $30M if not more. They are leading the way in the No Code movement. I would be willing to bet their revenue is increasing exponentially not linearly at this point. I would not be surprised to hear they hit the $100M revenue number soon.
Webflow has 47,000 customers.
Founder
Webflow was founded in 2013. The founder Vlad was able to sustain this business for six years with VERY minimal investment and now has been able to garner $72M in investment. This speaks volumes to his belief and sticktoitiveness.
Diversity
I thought about putting this under founder but I believe it deserves its own bullet. Webflow as a company has taken a stance. They already have a huge brand being the leader in the No Code movement but now they are building their brand as a company that is helping people. Not only are they passionate about helping people create the lives they want but also about ensuring there is equality for everyone. On top of everything else this makes Webflow one of the best companies on our list yet!
Size
Webflow has a total of 174 people at the company today. In 2017 they had 60 employees. Typically, I try to highlight companies that have less than 150 employees but Webflow is different. There is a reason Webflow received a Series A funding of $72M when the typical series A size is $15M.
